Plumb Line

by Wright Now

/

about

I wrote Plumb Line back in 2014. After hearing a sermon by J.D. Farag this past Sunday in which he referenced Amos and God's Plumb Line, I got to thinking how the song is even more relevant today than it was five years ago when I wrote it. In light of this, I felt compelled to rerecord it, make a video and share it again.

Hopefully the words and message of the song will touch you as you listen. I hope that after you listen, you will take a moment to think of how our nation and even you as an individual measure up to God's plumb line. May your eyes be opened to the truth. Seek Jesus for our time is short.

Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus!

lyrics

Long ago God called a man named Amos
And He said Amos tell me what do you see
So Amos said I see You standing by a wall
With a plumb line as straight as can be

Then the Lord said this line is for Israel
I will spare them no more
They will surely go into exile
In their own land, they'll be no more

Cause they're a nation of perfection
They don't think they do any wrong
If a problem arises they know what to do
They destroy it and then move on

So I'll drop them a plumb line Amos
I'll place it where all can see
Just how far they have come
From where I want them to be

So let's look at what we have become
Let's look how far we have strayed
You see our nation once under God
Is now blind to her ways

Cause we don't stand up for what is right
No we just look the other way
We sit perfectly fine with a compromise
No matter what God has said

Cause we're a nation of perfection
We don't think we do any wrong
If a problem arises we know what to do
We destroy it and then move on

Yes, we're a nation of perfection
We don't think we do any wrong
If a problem arises we know what to do
We destroy it and then move on

So drop us a plumb line Lord
Please place it where all can see
Just how far we have gone
From where You want us to be

So as a nation once under God
We know what we should do
We need to take our blinders off
And just do what Jesus would do

Cause we're a nation of perfection
We don't think we do any wrong
If a problem ever arises
We destroy it and then move on

So drop us a plumb line Lord
Please place it where all can see
Just how far we have gone
From where You want us to be

Oh Lord please drop us a plumb line God
Please place it where all can see
Just how far we have gone
From where You want us to be

Please show us how far we have gone
From where You want them to be
