I Don't Wanna Go

about

This is a song about how my parents raised me with God and His church in mind. If they had not made church on Sunday a priority in my life, then I most likely would not have later on in life. Here's to good Christian parenting. Thanks Mom and Dad!

lyrics

When I was young
And Sunday would come
The church bells would ring
And I’d think to myself “Oh no! I don’t wanna go!”

So I’d pretend I was sick
Man I’d lay it on thick
But Mom and Dad would just shake their heads
And say “Oh no…You still gotta go.”
“Oh no…You still gotta go.”

Then they’d make me get up outta bed
Run a comb through the hair on my head
Then they’d dress me in my Sunday’s best
No matter how much I’d protest
Then off to church we would go

Years go by and college has come
Late nights, parties, friends
Oh the fun, I’d never wanna go

Sunday morn always came too soon
Cause all I wanted to do was sleep til noon
I don’t wanna go
Just a few minutes more
Man I don’t wanna go

Then I’d make myself get up outta bed and
Run a comb through the hair on my head
Then I’d put on my Sunday’s best
No matter how my body’d protest
Then off to church I would go

Now I’m sittin in church just a few years older
And when the preacher gets done I think to myself
Oh no…I don’t wanna go
Oh no…I don’t wanna go
